Golf Green Costs
GAAP Recording: The cost to redo greens should be capitalized and depreciated over the life of the green/tee box. The cost is treated in such a way because the green/tee box has a finite life. Once redone, the greens and tee boxes will have future b
enefits (since they're not redone every year) and should be depreciated over their useful lives.
Tax Treatment: The following website describes in detail the tax treatment of greens costs.
