Ethics Training

Please join us Wednesday, November 16th from 5:30pm to 7:30pm at the REDW offices at 7425 Jefferson Street Northeast Albuquerque, NM 87109 for a joint meeting with the ABQ-IMA Chapter.   The information on the speaker and location are below.  The cost is $25.00 USD for members and guests and you can pay in advance via Eventbrite to register.  Dinner will be served so please RSVP early.  Tickets will also be sold at the door.  This is a wonderful opportunity to network with accountants from other industries and to hear a great speaker as well as pick up end of the year CPE.  We hope to see you there.  If you have any questions please call me at the number below.

Speaker: Joyce L. Ellis, DBA, MAFM, CPA

Dr. Ellis holds degrees in accounting and finance as well as a current CPA license from the State of California. She also has practiced in the field of accounting for many years including forensic accounting and testifying hundreds of times as an expert witness in the Superior Courts in California. During her doctoral studies she focused on accounting ethics and presented her dissertation for her doctorate with a focus on a study emphasizing accounting ethics. Dr. Ellis has been an accounting professor for over fifteen years. Today, she is a full-time professor at National University in LaJolla, California. In addition to her professor responsibilities, she has been an advocate for her students becoming a CPA and entering the accounting profession. She is a new resident in Albuquerque. 

Subject:    “ACCOUNTING ETHICS” PRESENTATION

The presentation studies the fundamentals of accounting ethics focusing on case analysis and discussion with identification of possible solutions in acquisition of good ethical judgements. The objective of the presentation is to increase ethical sensitivity with focusing on learning outcomes including: analysis of facts presented in a case scenario, evaluation of possible solutions to case dilemmas, support evaluations through presentation and debate, and demonstration through analysis and discussion specific ethical issues involved in the field of accounting. Cases will be supplied to participants for analysis during the presentation.  Required tools for this presentation include pen or pencil and a writing tablet.
