Editorial Contribution Guidelines

The industry benefits from a variety of perspectives. To that end, HFTP welcomes contributions from hospitality experts, academics, students and professionals in all stages of their career.

HFTP’s information channels are designed to uphold the association’s core purpose, which is “to lead and advance the hospitality profession by providing a forum for continuous learning and knowledge sharing.” To help accomplish our mission, HFTP welcomes contributions from hospitality experts, academics, students and professionals in all stages of their career.

If you are interested in contributing content to an HFTP information channel, please review the following guidelines carefully.

Available Opportunity

HFTP is accepting article submissions for HFTP Connect (blog.hftp.org), the association’s official blog site. Published blog posts are also shared on HFTP News (news.hftp.org) and HFTP’s official social media channels. 

  • Recommended word count for a blog post: 500-750 words

Contribution Guidelines

  • The article must be educational and original (not already published elsewhere). You may re-share or repost your article/blog post after it has been published by HFTP, with a disclaimer and link to the HFTP source. 

  • The topic must be directly related to hospitality finance and/or technology, or in some way advance the professional development of hospitality finance and technology professionals. General topics that may be considered include industry leadership, human resources, legal updates, communication strategies, ethics, F&B and more. 

  • Note: HFTP is restricted from publishing any sales-related, commercial content or product endorsements. 

  • Any content that violates HFTP policies on prohibited activities will not be published. Some examples of prohibited activities include: 

  • Discussion of pricing or promotional policies, other terms of sale, customer identity or geographic marketing areas. Pressure on members or segments to adopt any program or policy. Development of programs or policies designed to exclude some members of the industry. Assisting members with problems pertaining to a single company. 

  • Any content that violates HFTP code of conduct will not be published. Examples include using defamatory, offensive or obscene language or any content that could be considered discriminatory, disparaging or harassment.

How to Submit

  • Submit your article for consideration to HFTP Communications Manager Briana Gilmore at [email protected].  

  • Authorship must be attributed to an individual. Please include a short author bio, a headshot and LinkedIn profile URL (if available). 

  • Any outside links included within the blog post or article are subject to review and may not be included; they must be educational resources that add value to your content. 

  • Note: Blog posts from outside contributors who meet the above guidelines are always considered but may not always be published.

Accompanying Graphics

HFTP will provide all accompanying graphics to the article but if there is a specific photograph that will enhance the content, please share for consideration. The photo must be a large, high-resolution image and have permission for use (or rights released). In the article, if you have any accompanying data for a chart/infographic or material for a side bar, please include when you submit the article.
