Chapter Choice Award (Historical Information) 2015 Winner

HFTP no longer awards the Chapter Choice Award, with the last award presented in 2015.  The University of Houston Cougar Student Chapter was honored as the 2015 Chapter Choice Award winner for a philanthopic chapter success story.  The chapter was honored at the 2015 Annual Convention & Tradeshow.

Chapter Choice Award

Implemented in 1996, the HFTP Chapter Choice Award was introduced at HFTP Leadership Summit to reward and recognize chapter success stories.

2014 - HFTP Mid Jersey Chapter

The recipients of the 2014 Chapter Choice Award was the Mid Jersey Chapter whose efforts went toward raising and donating money to The Valerie Fund.

The Valerie Fund is an organization that provides support for the comprehensive care of children with cancer and blood disorders. The funds donated will go toward the Camp Happy Times project. Camp Happy Times is a one (1) week overnight camp experience for children who have or have had cancer.

The Mid Jersey Chapter presented a donation of $20,530 to The ValerieFund from the proceeds of the annual charity golf outing. As an appreciation for the chapters donation, members Marilyn Cafone and Amy Rivetti were invited to a day at the camp. "To see the smiles and hear the laughter of these amazing kids truly touched our hearts". Congratulations to the Mid Jersey Chapter!

2013 – University of Houston Cougar Chapter

The recipients of the 2013 Chapter Choice Award was the University of Houston Cougar Chapter, whose efforts went toward supporting 7 initiatives sending multiple volunteers to each event during the 2012-2013 academic school year.

The events included: Angel Tree Book Drive, Japhet Creek Clean Up, Houston Food Bank, Houston Public Library Children's Book Sale, and Christmas Present Donations to local children's home, and Houston Public Library Book Sale.

Even though the students juggle school, work, and extracurricular activities they committed to making a difference in their community. Congratulations University of Houston Cougar Chapter!

2012 - HFTP Florida Gulf Coast Chapter

The recipients of the 2012 Chapter Choice Award was the Florida Gulf Coast Chapter, whose efforts went toward supporting “Barbara’s Friends.” This is a children’s cancer facility that provides resources to fulfill the treatment and educational needs of the pediatric oncology and hematology patient population and their families at the Children’s Hospital of Southwest Florida. The facility's goal is to keep families together and provide local treatment so that these families are able to keep some normalcy in their lives and allow parents to stay physically and emotionally close to their sick child.

2011 - HFTP Florida Treasure Coast Chapter

The Treasure Coast Chapter efforts went toward assisting the Treasure Coast Mobile Food Pantry that provides food to families in the Indian River, St. Lucie, Martin and Okeechobee counties. With the economy and rising unemployment in America their efforts are to help struggling families make ends meet.

2010 - HFTP Chicago Chapter

The 2010 Chapter Choice Award went to the Chicago Chapter. The chapter's goal was to choose a charity that they could support. The entire donation proceeds from the 50/50 raffle went to the Greater Chicago Food Depository. Other items were donated during educational meetings, annual holiday social and summer outings.The members also spent an evening volunteering at the Chicago facility, where a check in the amount of $2625.00 was presented to the food bank. At the end of the day the group created over 700 meal boxes for distribution to the hungry.

2009 - HFTP Greater Houston Chapter

The 2009 Chapter Choice Award went to the Greater Houston Chapter. The Chapter restarted a regional conference at the Conrad N. Hilton College, University of Houston. Participants were professionals at all levels of accounting and IT from Houston, New Orleans, Oklahoma, Austin, San Antonio and Dallas. The reboost of this regional conference allowed the chapter to make contact with other chapters, creating potential for future collaboration on regional conferences. In addition, the conference generated money for the chapter. The conference provided a service to the chapter members, as well as other area chapters and HFTP in general.

2008 - HFTP Mid-Florida Chapter

The 2008 Chapter Choice Award went to the Mid-Florida Chapter. The chapter's Ambassador Program had the chapter's membership committee working hard to retain current members and recruiting new members to the chapter. By assigning a membership committee member to each current member, the chapter was able to assess why people were not renewing their membership and sway some to renew, a feat that isn't easy in the current economy. Potential members received a free meal during the meetings and received an "Ambassador" that introduced them to other members and helped them feel at home. Results from the program included a 90% retention rate and 44 new members (12%).

2007 - HFTP Greater Houston Chapter

The 2007 Chapter Choice Award went to the Greater Houston Chapter. The chapter's goal was to raise the profile of the chapter in the eyes of the members, community and within the industry. The chapter re-established its Board of Directors through interested volunteers and set focus to accomplish (3) three specific tasks monthly. During the process of rejuvenating the chapter, time was spent supporting the University of Houston Student chapter, sponsoring a student to attend the 2007 Annual Convention and holding a raffle to benefit the Ronald McDonald House of Houston.

2006 - HFTP Valley of the Sun Chapter

The 2006 Chapter Choice Award went to the Valley of the Sun Chapter. The chapter's goal for the year was to give back to the members and community. The chapter started off the year by supporting the Katrina Evacuees. The chapter offered job list from member's properties to shelters that housed the evacuees. The chapter donated $1,000 to the Salvation Army for their support efforts of the evacuees. The chapter hosted a free Christmas party for their members and families and gave scholarships/endowments to NAU and SCC. And the chapter also donated $250 to the "Operation Hydration" project. Truly a "Year of Giving".

2005- HFTP Greater Puget Sound Chapter

The 2005 Chapter Choice Award went to the Greater Puget Sound Chapter. The chapter sponsored an event called "The Amazing Race-Seattle Edition." Teams of four were given $20 to race throughout Seattle. Each team found checkpoints and performed tasks to receive clues to find the next checkpoint. There were four checkpoints at places like the Space Needle and Pike Place Market. Prizes were awarded for the top 3 teams.

2004- HFTP Mid-Florida Chapter

The 2004 Chapter Choice Award went to the Mid-Florida Chapter for its charity golf tournament that raised $15,000 for Camp Boggy Creek. This is a special needs camp which provides children with life threatening illnesses, and their families, a week of camping activities free of charge.

2003- HFTP Mid-Florida Chapter

The 2003 Chapter Choice Award went to the HFTP Mid-Florida Chapter for their first charity golf tournament which raised $16,000. This is a special needs camp which provides children with life threatening illnesses, and their families, a week of camping activities free of charge.

2002- HFTP Mid-Jersey Chapter

The 2002 Chapter Choice Award winning entry was the Mid-Jersey Chapter's charity golf tournament, which raised $15,000 to benefit the Valerie Fund, an organization which provides health care for children with cancer and blood disorders, close to their homes, in the Greater New Jersey, New York and Philadelphia Metropolitan areas.

2001- HFTP Florida Gold Coast Chapter

The 2001 Chapter Choice Award went to the HFTP Florida Gold Coast Chapter for the Annual Charity Golf Tournament benefiting the National Niemann Disease Foundation. This was the chapter’s 2nd Annual Charity Golf Tournament and they raised in excess of $29,000!

2000- HFTP Florida Gulf Coast Chapter

The 2000 Chapter Choice Award went to the HFTP Florida Gulf Coast Chapter for the Florida Regional Conference. Their objectives were t Continue the tradition among Florida Chapters of providing low cost, high quality local education to our members in Florida’s off season; Provide an opportunity for HFTP-Florida members to renew old acquaintances and make new friends in a fun and exciting environment; Tackle a team project that would require the entire chapter to be involved in order to succeed.

1999- HFTP Florida Gulf Coast

The 1999 Chapter Choice Award went to the HFTP Florida Gulf Coast chapter for their charity golf tournament.

1998- HFTP Valley of the Sun Chapter

The 1998 Chapter Choice Award winner was the HFTP Valley of the Sun Chapter for their “Jamaica’ Me Crazy” Fundraiser.
