You must pass the CHTP Exam to earn the designation. You must complete the application process and include all required materials in order to take the Exam.

Once I Have Applied, Where do I Take the Exam?
The CHTP exams are available at all HFTP conferences & events. In addition, exams can be taken online or scheduled with a private proctor.

The exam covers 3 sections and each section covers certian competencies. A breakdown of the exam is noted below:

How Do I Prepare for the CHTP Exam?
HFTP offers a CHTP Study Guide for individuals interested in the exam. In addition, there are CHTP Review Sessions that may be attended at HFTP events. *CHTP Review Sessions are $150 USD for HFTP members and $250 USD for non-HFTP members.
How Much Does The CHTP Certification Cost?
Pricing is based on HFTP Membership. HFTP members receive a discounted exam rate via the application process. Please see the current application for the current exam rates. In the event you need to retake the exam(s), the retake fees are listed in the Policy and Procedures document. The CHTP is offered online only.
Once I Have Earned the CHTP designation, How do I Maintain It?
Professionals who have the CHTP designation must maintain 60 Continuing Education Points over the course of 2 years. HFTP offers continuing education at all its conferences and events as well as HFTP chapter events and HFTP online education. Visit the Events section for a detailed listing of upcoming opportunities.
