HFTP 2023 Club Summit Has Event’s Largest Registration; Will Addresses High Priority Industry Topics
Next week, Hospitality Financial and Technology Professionals (HFTP®) is holding its annual Club Summit with one of its largest registration rosters in the history of the five-year event. Established in 2018, this conference has quickly become a key program for the association’s club segment offerings. The Summit delivers a vital opportunity for high-level club professionals and industry experts to directly address the topics that are most compelling and important to this specialized segment of hospitality. Scheduled for next Monday and Tuesday (March 27–28) at the Embassy Suites by Hilton Denver Downtown in Denver Colo; HFTP is expecting 185+ attendees for the education, networking and table-top exhibits.
Completion Stage Underway for the 12th Revised Edition of the Uniform System of Accounts for the Lodging Industry (USALI)
The Global Finance Committee (GFC), jointly sponsored by Hospitality Financial and Technology Professionals (HFTP®) and the American Hotel & Lodging Association (AHLA), have restarted its work on the 12th Revised Edition of the Uniform System of Accounts for the Lodging Industry (USALI). The independent group of global financial leaders from the most prominent U.S. and international hotel brands, operators, owners and other industry authorities met January 31 – February 2 in Washington, D.C. The upcoming revisions and enhancements will incorporate financial and operating changes and a new sustainability section.

ChatGPT has been dominating the news since (he? she? it?) was revealed to the world in late 2022 as the latest in AI-driven, natural language processing technology. Is this new chatbot launched by OpenAI something to fear or something to embrace? I recently “interviewed” ChatGPT to learn more. Currently, the chatbot does not have a voice and only communicates by text. To give full credit, I have cut and pasted ChatGPT’s text responses to my questions verbatim, without any edits. Enjoy!
HFTP Announces 2023 Global Executive Committee and Board of Directors

These HFTP leaders volunteer their time and professional expertise to help guide and progress the association to the forefront of the industry as it carries out its strategic plan.
HFTP and AHLA Announce 10-year USALI Agreement
The American Hotel & Lodging Association (AHLA) and the Hospitality Financial and Technology Professionals Association (HFTP) announced today a 10-year agreement to jointly produce the Uniform System of Accounts for the Lodging Industry (USALI). The USALI is used all over the world as the “standard” for hospitality accounting, and today’s announcement reverses HFTP’s decision earlier this year to publish the next USALI edition without AHLA’s formal involvement. AHLA and HFTP have reengaged the joint Global Finance Committee that is responsible for creating content for USALI’s 12th edition – to be released in 2023 – as well as all subsequent editions.
HFTP Schedules HITEC 2024 in Charlotte and HITEC 2025 in Indianapolis; HSMAI to Co-Locate its Commercial Strategy Week
Hospitality Financial and Technology Professionals (HFTP®) has set the 2024 and 2025 dates for its upcoming Hospitality Industry Technology Exposition and Conference (HITEC®). The world’s largest, nonprofit, hospitality technology event will debut two new U.S. cities to its roster. In 2024, HITEC will be held June 24-27 at the Charlotte Convention Center in Charlotte, North Carolina. In 2025, HITEC will be held June 16-19 at the Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis, Indiana. Co-locating with HITEC at these future events is the Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association International (HSMAI) Commercial Strategy Week, which includes the HSMAI Marketing Strategy Conference and HSMAI ROC Americas.
HFTP Opens Applications for the 2023 Entrepreneur 20X North America
Hospitality Financial and Technology Professionals (HFTP®), producers of the Hospitality Industry Technology Exposition and Conference (HITEC®), has opened the application process for the North American Entrepreneur 20X (E20X) start-up pitch competition. Established in 2015, E20X gives innovative hospitality technology startups an opportunity to pitch their cutting-edge ideas to a room full of HITEC attendees and a panel of expert judges. Two awards will be presented to the top competitors: the Judges’ Choice Award —selected by the panel of judges and the People’s Choice Award — selected by popular vote determined by HITEC attendees.
HFTP Announces Renowned Industry Expert as New European COO
Hospitality Financial and Technology Professionals (HFTP®) announced that Carson Booth, CHTP will join the association as its Chief Operations Officer (COO) – Europe, starting November 1, 2022. Booth will take on the position held by Carl Weldon since 2016 upon his retirement at the end of October. Booth brings decades of international, hospitality industry experience in management and technology-centered positions.
HFTP Announces 2023 HITEC North America Advisory Council; Experts to Design Program Covering Crucial Topics in Hospitality Technology
Hospitality Financial and Technology Professionals (HFTP®), producers of the Hospitality Industry Technology Exposition and Conference (HITEC®) has put together an expert group of industry professionals to serve on the advisory council for its upcoming North American event. HITEC is the largest and oldest nonprofit event of its kind hosting 300+ exhibiting companies and a thoughtfully designed education program with over 50 education sessions. In its five plus decades, HITEC has become a respected, must-attend event for the industry. HITEC 2023 will take place from June 26–29 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre in Toronto, Ontario Canada.
