Best of HFTP to be First Hospitality Industry Conference Deploying Telemedicine to Support Attendees and Exhibitors
As associations and companies prepare to return to meetings and events, assurances are required that related travel and social interactions are safe. Hospitality Financial and Technology Professionals (HFTP®) announced today that it will the first hospitality industry conference to deploy telemedicine to support attendees and exhibitors of its "Best of HFTP" conference October 26-29, 2020 in San Antonio, Texas USA. In response to the guidance for slowing the spread of Covid-19, HFTP restructured its 2020 event calendar co-locating HITEC San Antonio, HFTP Annual Convention, Club Forum and Entrepreneur 20X for one eventful week.
HFTP International Hospitality Technology Hall of Fame 2020 Inductees Announced: Michael Blake, CAE and Henri Roelings
Hospitality Financial and Technology Professionals (HFTP®) is pleased to announce two champions of hospitality technology: Michael Blake, CAE and Henri Roelings as the 2020 HFTP International Hospitality Technology Hall of Fame inductees. Blake, CEO of Hospitality Technology Next Generation (HTNG), was recognized for his experience and leadership in promoting hospitality innovation and technology. Roelings, owner and CEO of HospitalityNet.org, was recognized for building a comprehensive digital platform for broad distribution of industry news and commentary. Both will be honored at the Hospitality Industry Technology Exposition and Conference (HITEC®) in San Antonio, Texas USA on October 27, 2020.

Hilton College Initiates First-ever Hospitality Hackathon (HC3), Sponsored by HFTP; Challenges Students From Hospitality Programs Across the Globe
The University of Houston Conrad N. Hilton College of Hotel and Restaurant Management, in partnership with Hospitality Financial and Technology Professionals (HFTP®), are addressing the immediate need for creative and thoughtful solutions that will assist hospitality companies to put their businesses back on track. To begin this critical dialogue, they are challenging students in hospitality programs across the globe with the first-time Hilton College Hospitality Hackathon. The competition, running the course of the summer (June 1-August 8), asks participants to tackle COVID-19 head-on and address the challenges it has posed to all sectors of the hospitality, travel and tourism industry, and to develop solutions to move it forward.

Hospitality Financial and Technology Professionals (HFTP®) is debuting two new professional certificates which demonstrate one's expertise in the USALI 11th Revised Edition: The USALI-11 Certificate, Theory and USALI-11 Certificate, Practice. Each certificate is a four-module course which cover the concepts, organizational structure and application of this industry-wide reporting standard. Developed by Ascend, a hospitality talent development company, the courses are available to all, with no previous experience required.
Do you remember where you were when COVID-19 changed the world? Although it was not until several hours later that it dawned on me that it happened, I was at the Dubai International Airport. It was the typical hurry, bump and for some, shove, of any airport. As I boarded the tram, I was surrounded by a plane full of passengers departing for Iran at a gate close to mine. We were packed in a crowded train car and some were coughing, sneezing and sweating due to the temperature. After arriving at home, the next day's headline was about all the horrible cases of COVID-19 in Iran. That was how it all became real for me…February 20, 2020.
HFTP will go live on Zoom three times a week throughout April for a new series of virtual networking opportunities called "HFTP Hangouts." All HFTP members, stakeholders and hospitality professionals are invited to attend. These collaborative, online sessions will begin on Tuesday, April 7 and will take place every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at 2:00 p.m. CT for the remainder of the month.
HFTP Presents “Best of HFTP” with Co-Located Events in October 2020, Including HITEC San Antonio, HFTP Annual Convention, Club Forum and Entrepreneur 20X
In response to the guidance for slowing the spread of Covid-19, Hospitality Financial and Technology Professionals (HFTP®) restructured its 2020 event calendar, moving early 2020 events to the second half of the year, and co-locating them for one eventful week. First it rescheduled the North American Hospitality Industry Technology Exposition and Conference (HITEC®) to October 26-29, 2020, originally set to take place in June. Next, the association relocated its Annual Convention, which was already scheduled for that month, to San Antonio from Minneapolis, Minnesota USA. It will run October 27-29. In addition, HFTP will hold the annual Club Forum and the startup pitch competition Entrepreneur 20X, both on October 26 in San Antonio.
In light of the worldwide uncertainty stemming from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the North American Hospitality Industry Technology Exposition and Conference (HITEC®) has been rescheduled to October 26-29, 2020. In addition, the co-located HSMAI ROC Americas will take place October 26-27. Produced by Hospitality Financial and Technology Professionals (HFTP®), the 48-year hospitality technology event is traditionally held annually in June. At this time, HFTP has determined to take a proactive approach by rescheduling for later this year to allow time for group gatherings to be safe once-again; as well as, give attendees and the hospitality businesses they represent some space to focus and strategize on their economic recovery.
