Winners of 2020 Hospitality Graduate Student Blog Competition Announced, Presented by the HFTP Foundation

An overview of the latest hotel cleaning technology advancements is the topic of the winning blog in a competition for graduate-level students. The competition was sponsored by the Hospitality Financial and Technology Professionals (HFTP®) Foundation and held for students earning their HFTP-UH Global Masters Certificate, a program with candidates of the Master of Science in Global Hospitality Business, a partnership between the CN Hilton College at the University of Houston, the School of Hotel and Tourism Management at Hong Kong Polytechnic University and EHL.

HFTP Announces HITEC 2021 for September 27-30 in Dallas, Texas USA

Hospitality Financial and Technology Professionals (HFTP®) is pleased to announce that HITEC North America 2021 will be held in-person on September 27-30 at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center in Dallas, Texas USA. Traditionally held in June, the Hospitality Industry Technology Exposition and Conference (HITEC®) has been pushed back to give the hard-hit hospitality industry an opportunity to build positive momentum as it recovers from the pandemic-related slow-down. In addition, HFTP will co-locate its Annual Convention with HITEC Dallas, presenting an information-packed event to benefit multiple hospitality industry segments and stakeholders.

HFTP 2020–2021 Global Executive Committee and Board of Directors Begin Term

The 2020-2021 Global Executive Committee and Board of Directors for Hospitality Financial and Technology Professionals (HFTP®) have officially begun their term at the start of this month. The association leaders represent a wide variety of segments within the hospitality industry, including: clubs, academics, hotels, finance, technology and more. The HFTP Global Board volunteers its time and professional expertise to help guide and progress the association to the forefront of the industry as it carries out its strategic plan.

HFTP Debuts CYBER HITEC to Large Virtual Crowd

Hospitality Financial and Technology Professionals (HFTP®) has just wrapped up the first week of its premiere virtual event CYBER HITEC®, with the first-three days featuring live interaction. The event hosted over 1,840 registered participants engaging in hospitality technology-focused education sessions, 18 virtual exhibit halls and multiple networking opportunities. CYBER HITEC was a virtual adaptation of the 48-year hospitality technology convention and trade show HITEC® (Hospitality Industry Technology Exposition and Tradeshow), which traditionally is an in-person event. Also enveloped within the programming was the HFTP Annual Convention, with a hospitality finance-focused education track. CYBER HITEC will continue to be available to registrants through November 25, 2020, with access to education sessions and exhibits remaining.

HFTP Announces 2020 Paragon Award Recipient – Ian Millar, CHTP

Ian Millar, CHTP was selected as the 2020 Hospitality Financial and Technology Professionals (HFTP®) Paragon Award recipient for his unwavering support of the association and substantial contributions to increase knowledge sharing and promote growth in the hospitality industry at large, specifically amongst students and hospitality professionals within Europe. Millar is a senior lecturer of IT at EHL in Lausanne, Switzerland. He has been a member of HFTP for 15 years and served in multiple association leadership positions including as vice-chair of the HITEC Advisory Council and on the HFTP Global Board. Millar will be honored on October 29 during HFTP's Annual Business Meeting, held virtually.

Hilton College Announces Winners of the First-ever Hospitality Hackathon (HC3), Sponsored by HFTP; Challenged Students From Hospitality Programs Across the Globe

This summer, the University of Houston Conrad N. Hilton College of Hotel and Restaurant Management, in partnership with Hospitality Financial and Technology Professionals (HFTP®), challenged students in hospitality programs across the globe with the first-time Hilton College Hospitality Hackathon. The competition asked participants to tackle COVID-19 head-on and address the challenges it has posed to all sectors of the hospitality, travel and tourism industry, and to develop solutions to move it forward.

HFTP Offers New Digital Format for the Uniform System of Accounts for the Lodging Industry (USALI), 11th Revised Edition

Hospitality Financial and Technology Professionals (HFTP®) has just released a new format for the USALI, 11th revised edition: a digital version that is available through a subscription service. The popular guide is widely used internationally and its primary purpose is to offer operating statements formatted to provide hotel owners, managers and other interested parties with operational information pertinent to the lodging industry. The USALI was first published in 1926 and is currently in its 11th edition. The subscription will make it easy to access on multiple digital devices.
