HFTP Announces HITEC San Antonio Advisory Council; Experts to Design Program Covering Crucial Topics in Hospitality Technology
Hospitality Financial and Technology Professionals (HFTP®), producers of the Hospitality Industry Technology Exposition and Conference (HITEC®) has put together an expert group of industry professionals to serve on the advisory council for its upcoming North American event. Selected by HFTP leadership for their experience and expertise, the HITEC San Antonio Advisory Council will determine the event's education program. HITEC San Antonio will be the second, and largest, HITEC of 2020, and will take place from June 15-18 at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in San Antonio, Texas USA.
Hospitality Financial and Technology Professionals (HFTP®) is announcing a new philanthropic arm, the HFTP Foundation, which will support the association in its strategic goal to be a source for industry knowledge sharing. A separate operation from HFTP, the HFTP Foundation will secure nonprofit funding for hospitality and travel industry-related research, educational projects and scholarships. It will oversee the three HFTP Research Centers - Americas, Asia and the Middle East. The new organization will be led by Lucinda Hart, CAE, MBA, who has been with HFTP for 25 years, most recently as its chief operations officer.
Two leading associations who work to advance and educate on hospitality technology are partnering to produce the fourth annual HITEC® Europe on 21-23 April in Palma, Mallorca Spain. Joining resources, Hospitality Financial and Technology Professionals (HFTP®) and Hospitality Technology Next Generation (HTNG) are collaborating to develop a program with outstanding content and presentations by field experts from across the globe. HFTP has produced the Hospitality Industry Technology Exposition and Conference (HITEC) since 1972, and in 2017 expanded the brand with two additional boutique events in Europe and Dubai which bring together thought leaders, practitioners and vendors to cover hospitality technology trends and practices. Since then, the European show has been building annually and a new partnership with HTNG will help elevate the program and broaden its audience.
Thomas G. Smith, CHAE was selected as the 2019 Hospitality Financial and Technology Professionals (HFTP®) Paragon Award recipient for his unwavering support of the association and substantial contributions to increase knowledge sharing and promote growth in the hospitality industry at large, specifically for the club segment of the association. Smith is the chief business officer at The Imperial Golf Club in Naples, Florida USA. He has been a member of HFTP for 28 years and has served in multiple association leadership positions including as the 2010-2011 HFTP Global past president. More recently, Smith has shared his experience as a club executive by presenting at HFTP educational conferences and participating on the HFTP Club Advisory Council. Smith will be honored on October 25 during HFTP's 2019 Annual Convention held at the Rosen Centre Hotel in Orlando, Florida USA.
One of Hospitality Financial and Technology Professionals' (HFTP's) priorities as an organization is to support students who are working towards higher degrees within the industry. While any full-time hospitality student can sign up for free association membership, several student members are also invited annually to volunteer behind the scenes at the Hospitality Industry Technology Exposition and Conference (HITEC) in North America.
HFTP Annual Convention 2019 General Session Speakers Announced, Covering Communication, Leadership and Travel Industry Trends
Hospitality Financial and Technology Professionals (HFTP®) is set to offer professional inspiration at its upcoming Annual Convention. The event offers a full educational program dedicated to the most current industry trends and topics of interest, pivoting around a captivating general session speaker each day of the convention. The three general session speakers Marilyn Sherman, Chris Davidson and Ty Bennett will discuss topics relating to communication in the workplace, travel trends and leadership. The HFTP Annual Convention will take place from October 23-25 at the Rosen Centre Hotel in Orlando, Florida.
HITEC Minneapolis Gathers Thousands of Hospitality Professionals to Cover a Full Range of Hospitality Technology Solutions
Hospitality Financial and Technology Professionals (HFTP®) last week closed another successful HITEC, located in Minneapolis, Minnesota in its 47th year. Produced annually by HFTP, the Hospitality Industry Technology Exposition and Conference (HITEC®) showcases the industry's latest innovations and provides a top-notch education program for attendees. This year 6,073 attendees participated, with 392 exhibiting companies in 888 booths set up in the exhibit hall. HITEC Minneapolis took place from June 17-20, 2019 at the Minneapolis Convention Center.
Hospitality Financial and Technology Professionals (HFTP®) is announcing the newly-established HFTP Shanghai Chapter - the first chapter in China for the international association. The group of hospitality finance and technology professionals will meet on a regular basis to network and present professional education programs. The confirmation for the chapter came after a recent interest event featuring HFTP CEO Frank Wolfe, CAE brought together area professionals to introduce the association and its member benefits.

Hospitality Financial and Technology Professionals (HFTP®) is pleased to announce that Sudharshan Chary will be inducted into the HFTP International Hospitality Technology Hall of Fame at the Hospitality Industry Technology Exposition and Conference (HITEC®) in Minneapolis, Minnesota USA next week. Sudharshan, co-founder and president of Datavision Technologies, was recognized for helping drive the evolution of business intelligence for hospitality. He will be recognized on Tuesday, June 18, 2019 in a ceremony at the commencement of that morning's general session.
