HFTP Member Spotlight: Shannon McCallum

HFTP Member Spotlight

Many associations hold annual events and conferences for their industry's benefit, but few can claim the prestige and continuous success of HITEC. That success is due in no small part to the event Advisory Council, a group of multidisciplinary industry experts dedicated to developing the year's educational curriculum. The impressive group building the foundation of HITEC Toronto 2023 includes this week's Member Spotlight recipient, Shannon McCallum of Las Vegas, Nevada, who has been a member since 2017.

How long have you worked in the hospitality industry?

I have been a part of the hospitality industry for over three decades in both Canada and the United States. My background spans across multiple disciplines including hotel operations, food and beverage, meetings, events and technology.

What are some of the highlights of your time with HFTP?

I have been a member of HFTP for six years and have had the opportunity to serve on the HITEC Advisory Council two times before [for 2018 in Houston and 2019 in Minneapolis], but I am very excited to be co-chairing the 2023 HAC for Toronto this year! Our collective goal is to make the sessions valuable for this year's conference attendees.

What do you find most valuable about your HFTP membership?

Being a part of HFTP has allowed me to continue to gain relevant knowledge for my business and to network with colleagues from other hotels, technology professionals and vendor partners. Staying current on new trends is important to me and valuable to the company I work for.
