HFTP® has introduced a new professional certificate series within its Academy educational offerings focused on club finances designed to improve the skills and understanding of accounting for varying skill levels and audiences within the club environment. The Club Finances program includes three certificates that are individually comprehensive courses available to all with no previous experience required.
“HFTP is dedicated to supporting the professional growth of its members and stakeholders, as well as their workplace skill set,” says HFTP CEO Frank Wolfe, CAE. “With the introduction of the Club Finances certificate program, the HFTP Academy provides easy-to-access, affordable courses to build on an individual’s accounting background with information specific to the club environment.”
The first course in the program geared toward bookkeepers and junior accountants has officially opened for completion. This curriculum focuses on the fundamentals, including an overview of the accounting process, the Uniform System of Financial Reporting for Clubs, financial statement development, and analysis and subsidiary ledgers unique to the industry. Subsequent courses intended for accountants and managers will delve deeper into the accounting process for smaller operations and specialty personnel and focus on ratio/budget analysis and internal controls, respectively. Those certificates will be made available in late spring 2024.
“This course is paramount in improving the skills and understanding of accounting clerks and bookkeepers within the industry,” says HFTP Director of Curriculum Terrie Hamilton, DBA. “Delineating topics by career progression ensures that students are well-prepared to navigate the complexities of club management effectively. It’s a testament to HFTP’s commitment to fostering continuous learning and professional development.”
The Club Finances for Bookkeepers and Junior Accountants course costs $50 USD for HFTP members and $75 USD for non-members.
Participants receive around-the-clock access and have three months to complete the course. Once all modules are completed, the participant must take a 60-question assessment for that course that needs to be passed with 90 percent accuracy. Participants will have unlimited attempts to achieve a passing score. Upon completion of a certificate, registrants will receive a digital badge and printable certificate recognizing their achievement and new knowledge base.
Beyond these latest offerings, HFTP also offers certificate programs in Hospitality Benchmarking in collaboration with HotStats and Ascend and USALI-11 Theory and Practice.
